Origin

Meaning “divine flower” in Greek and sometimes interpreted as “flowers of the gods”, there are over 300 species of flowers in the Dianthus genus, which originated in the Mediterranean region.

Qualities

Feather-edged petals with deep pink centers fade to speckled or white edges above deep green foliage. A perennial in some zones, when grown on the Gardyn this traditionally compact plant enjoys slightly taller stems while remaining under a foot high. This specific variety has high heat tolerance.

Use

Dianthus offers a unique splash of color and texture and is best enjoyed cut-free with the Gardyn Vase, or as cut flowers in bud vases.

Care & Harvest

✂️ Pruning: Check the roots monthly and trimming any that are brown or extending past the yPod. To encourage new flower bud development, remove dead flower heads, called deadheading. Snip any yellow or brown leaves if they appear, but as always, leave one third of the plant behind to let it continue growing so you can enjoy multiple waves of blooms.

🌻 Harvest: Enjoy your flowers anywhere in your home cut-free by using the Gardyn Vase! Alternatively, to use as a cut flower, snip the stems at a 45° angle just above a leaf node at the desired height.
