Lid Replacement Installation Guide

Edited

Your replacement lid just arrived - hooray! Now it's time to install it so you can pair it next and get back to growing.

1. Disassemble your Gardyn

Follow the video, noting that you do not have to lay your Gardyn down on the towel, and can instead stand it upright (just like when you do a tank refresh).

  • Next, you need to detach your light bars from the lid.

    • Remove the upper blades by sliding them out from the top of the light bars and removing the metal bar and center plate that connects them to the columns in the back.

      • Depending on your Gardyn generation, removing the metal pieces will involve either removing the silicone plugs or unscrewing them.

    • Detach each light bar's lower blades from the lid by pressing in the tab (Gardyn 3.0) or pulling firmly in an upward direction (Gardyn 1.0 & 2.0). For Gardyn 1.0 and 2.0, also disconnect the wiring between the light bars and the lower blades.

    • Carefully set your light bars aside.

  • Now, detach the columns, one at a time.

  • Your old lid is now ready to be put aside.

    • While your tank is accessible, this is a great time to do a tank refresh if you have a couple extra minutes!

      • If you have mature plants on your Gardyn, now is the time to refill it with 5 gallons of water and 1/2 teaspoon of plant food dissolved per gallon (+HydroBoost!).

      • If you're germinating new plants on your Gardyn, fill your tank with 3 gallons of water only, no plant food.

2. Install the New Lid & Reassemble your Gardyn

You're now going to reverse the steps you just did to install your new lid. You can ignore the step numbers in the videos, and note that there may be slight variations in appearance depending on the generation of your device.

  • Mount and lock your new lid:

  • Reassemble your columns:

  • Reattach the light bars, following the matching video for your device:

    • Gardyn 3.0

  • Gardyn 1.0 & 2.0

    • On Gardyn 1.0 devices, there will be some visible metal when the USB cables are fully connected.

    • On Gardyn 2.0 devices, there should be no visible metal when the USB cables are fully connected.

  • Reattach the upper blades:

  • Return your plants in their yPods and any Gardyn Caps to your columns and turn your Gardyn on. Remember that if you're already growing mature plants, you should have 5 gallons of water in your tank with 1/2 teaspoon of plant dissolved per gallon (+HydroBoost!):

3. Pair your New Lid

Now that your replacement lid is installed and your Gardyn is reassembled, it's time to pair it to your account to transfer all of your Gardyn's data and let you get back to growing. Get started with pairing here!
