  5. Clean and relock your Herb Cutter after each use.

Gardyn Scissors

Harvesting

  1. Use your Gardyn Scissors for clean, precise cuts when harvesting leafy greens or fruiting crops. Learn more here.

  2. For lettuces, harvest the outer leaves first, trimming just above the base. For fruiting crops, harvest when they reach peak ripeness. Check your Plant Book for variety-specific tips.

  3. Clean your scissors after each use.

Root Pruning

  1. Use your scissors to trim roots during root checks. Learn more here.

  2. Remove root rot by cutting away any brown, slimy, or smelly roots.

    • Tip: Clean your scissors between plants if you prune root rot.

  3. If roots are crowding the yPod, trim the stray roots and separate the yCube from the yPod to access the full root mass. Trim off the bottom corner at a 45° angle.

  4. Clean your scissors after each use.

Pruning Plants

  1. Identify what needs pruning, such as yellowing, damaged, or unproductive leaves, or remove healthy growth to refocus the plant’s energy.

  2. Use your Gardyn Scissors to make clean cuts. Learn more here.

  3. Clean your scissors after each use.

Thinning Sprouts

  1. Determine how many sprouts to keep:

    • Thin to 1 for leafy greens, fruiting plants, and large flowers.

    • Thin to 3 for herbs and small flowers.

    • Check your Plant Book for variety-specific tips. Learn more here.

  2. Choose your strongest sprouts, then carefully trim the extras at the base of the rockwool.

  3. Clean your scissors after each use.

Gardyn Adjustable Spoon

  1. Measure your plant food using the adjustable spoon:

    • ¼ tsp per gallon for sprouts

    • ½ tsp per gallon for true leaves or vegetative growth

    • 1 tsp per gallon for blooming and fruiting

  2. Adjust your spoon by sliding the white section to the correct setting. These are the only measurements you’ll need for your Gardyn plant food.

  3. Mix your plant food by scooping into a 1-gallon jug and dissolving completely. Mixing ½ tsp at a time helps it dissolve faster. Learn more here.

  4. Add the solution to your tank once fully dissolved.

  5. Rinse and dry your spoon after each use.

Gardyn Tweezers

  1. Use your tweezers to remove roots that get stuck in hard-to-reach places inside your Gardyn column.

  2. Remove the yCube, then use the tweezers to clear roots blocking drainage or growing around the black irrigation tube.

  3. Keeping these areas clear helps your Gardyn stay clean and maintain proper irrigation.

  4. Dispose of any removed roots, then place your plant back in its spot.

  5. Rinse and dry your tweezers after each use.

Gardyn Cleaning Cloth

  1. Use your double-sided microfiber cloth to keep your Gardyn sparkling. It’s perfect for cleaning your columns, lid, yPods, lights, and tank.

    • The soft side is ideal for drying or wiping away light stains.

    • The fish-scale side helps tackle tougher spots or debris.

  2. Wash your cloth as needed, following microfiber care guidelines to keep it lasting longer.

Gardyn Brush

  1. Use your Gardyn Brush for deep cleaning, especially if you’re removing algae, root debris, salt deposits, or pests, or taking a break from growing.

    • Pull and twist to extend the handle for extra reach.

    • The soft silicone bristles clean effectively without scratching surfaces.

  2. Follow our cleaning protocol using citric acid. Use the brush to scrub column slots and yPods.

  3. Rinse and clean your brush before the next use.
