Origin

Petunias are an herbaceous plant in the Solanaceae family, which includes eggplants and tomatoes. Petunias are native to the tropical regions of South America, where they were first discovered in the late 1700’s.

Qualities

Petunias grow 7-10 inches tall and produce an abundance of delicate, trumpet-shaped flowers. This variety also features ruffled edges and an elegant cream color. The plant spreads before blooming and covering its own foliage. The flowers give off a delicate, lovely fragrance.

Use

Enjoy Petunias’ scent and beauty either on your Gardyn or in the Gardyn Vase, but note they are not edible.

Care & Harvest

🌱 Germination: Germination and true leaf growth can be slow. If your yCube has sprouted but true leaves have not formed, or if it has sprouted but roots are not visible after 14 days since you first saw it sprout, add the yCube to your Gardyn with plant food in it to help kick start its next phase of growth!

💡Temperature: Prefers warmer temperatures (70-80°F) during the day and cooler temperatures at night (60-65°F)

Support: While these beautiful flowers will naturally cascade down your Gardyn, we suggest using our Plant Belt to support the plant in upwards growth if desired.

✂️ Pruning: Check the roots monthly and trim any that are brown or extending past the yPod. To encourage new flower bud development, remove dead flower heads, known as deadheading. Trim back branches to your desired length if they get too long, always leaving at least 1/3 of the plant to continue growing. Trimmed branches will also generate new bunches of flower buds. Petunia’s are naturally a little sticky, so don’t be alarmed if your plant feels sticky to the touch!
