🍅 Days to Maturity: 46

📏 Plant Size: <1 ft

Origin
Monte Carlo is a variety of romaine lettuce bred for its compact height and uniform production. Romaine lettuces are said to have originated on the Greek island of Cos and likely started as a Mediterranean weed. Records show that romaine graced the tables of Persian kings as early as 55 BCE.
Qualities
Monte Carlo’s dark green leaves are firm, crunchy, and sweet. Lettuces are particularly high in vitamin A and potassium, which supports blood pressure, cardiovascular health, bone strength, and muscle strength.
Use
Enjoy Monte Carlo anywhere you would use romaine lettuce. It’s excellent in Caesar salads, sandwiches, burgers, and lettuce wraps.
Care & Harvest
💡Temperature: Prefers cooler temperatures (60-70°F), and if placed in higher temperatures, it will turn bitter and bolt.
✂️ Pruning: Check the roots monthly and trim any that are brown or extending past the yPod.
🥬 Harvest: For ongoing harvest, snip the outer leaves just above the base of the plant once they reach 2-3 inches tall to let the inner leaves continue to grow. Leave 1/3 of the plant if you want it to keep growing. To harvest the full head, wait until it reaches maturity, then harvest from the base.
